Recommended Prior Learning

Open to all students. Prior knowledge from taking Year 11 DTG will be an advantage.


Students will investigate and consider possible digital solutions for authentic contexts or issues. They will follow a technological process to design, develop and document digital outcomes using advanced techniques. Applying appropriate tools and information from testing will be used to improve the quality of their outcomes. Students will develop an understanding that digital technologies and the concepts that underpin them have an impact on people, society and cultures. 


Digital Technologies enables students to use project management tools to enable them to communicate ideas in a creative and critical way. Microsoft 365, Adobe CS Photoshop and VS Code software programs will be used. Digital media tools and software applications to develop an outcome include: design principles, computer graphics, graphic design, print design, desktop publishing, animation, web design, film production, digital video, and digital audio.

Term 1
AS 91355, 2.2, 4 CREDITS, SELECT AND USE PLANNING TOOLS TO MANAGE THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN OUTCOME AND AS91893, 2.4, 4 CREDITS, USE ADVANCED TECHNIQUES TO DEVELOP A WEBSITE (INTERNAL ASSESSMENT)

Students will develop a brief to identify an appropriate need or opportunity, requirements, potential users and possible solution. They will investigate and consider a digital solution for an authentic context or issue by using planning tools and developing a Website using VS Code html/css and Photoshop with digital media, e.g. hover effects, animations, slideshows and videos. Student will create a range of conceptual design ideas and improve them using testing, trialling and feedback from stakeholders. They will be using project management skills and advanced web design tools and techniques to effectively produce a fit-for-purpose outcome using advanced skills and techniques.

Term 2
AS91356, 2.3, 6 CREDITS, DEVELOP A CONCEPTUAL DESIGN FOR AN E-PUBLICATION PRINT DESIGN BOOKLET (INTERNAL ASSESSMENT)

For this assignment, students will identify a context, brief, specifications and potential users for their project. Student will be acquiring the print design skills needed to create the digital media outcome. They will be investigating and considering possible solutions and will create a range of design ideas to produce their digital media outcome. Students will be using project management skills and the advanced tools and techniques from Adobe CC Indesign and Photoshop to produce their e-publication print design.

Term 3
AS91899, 2.10, 3 CREDITS, PRESENT A SUMMARY OF DEVELOPING A DIGITAL OUTCOME (DCAT EXAM - 3 HOURS)

Students can either choose their Website Design or e-Publication for this External Exam. They are to upload 3 files onto the SSD before starting on their assignment: website html/css codes or wireframing for their booklet, web page or print design page and planning tools used to develop the digital media outcome. Next they are to analyse and evaluate the design process, and explain digital media and ethical issues relating to how they designed their outcome. A knowledge of technology practice and digital technology knowledge/skill development will be required.

The Senior Exams will be held at the end of Term 3. Students will be completing a Practice Exam for AS91899 during these exams.

Term 4
DCAT EXAM FOR AS91899

Students will be practising for AS91899 Presenting a Summary of Developing a Digital Outcome, their DCAT Exam which will be held in Octrober.
