Computer Science Coding enables students to develop skills and knowledge of tools and techniques in the areas of digital media, computer programming and game design. Students will apply their knowledge and skill as they engage in technological practice to develop their own computer program, game and database skills. This course should lead students into exciting career opportunities in areas such as software engineering, artificial intelligence and game design to name just a few. Coders are in demand and it really is a perfect time to be a computer programmer. Students will develop an understanding about the advanced concepts in computer programming and demonstrate the ability to design the structure of a software program for specific tasks. Students will learn analytical and communication skills as well as problem solving and team work.

Where possible there will be opportunities to explore Computer Science Coding in the workplace. In 2023 students visited the Tech123 Expo, Google, Microsoft and had a guest lecturer from Victoria University, Wellington.
