This course is divided into two units, Term 1 - 2: Interior Product Design and  Term 3 - 4: Garment Design. Each unit focuses on researching an authentic issue in a context that can be addressed through a textile solution. Students will engage in various stages of the design process, including brief development, concept design sketching, gathering stakeholder feedback, and trialing and testing of ideas through model and prototype development. The course culminates in the evaluation of two final products. 


Students will have the opportunity to think creatively while developing a diverse range of practical skills, acquire knowledge about material properties, and gain competence in the utilization of specialized equipment such as screen printing and machine embroidery. 


This programme will prepare students for NCEA Level 1 in Fashion and Interior Design.
