Subject Description

Course Content

This course will prepare students for Dance at Level 1 and will introduce students to new Dance genres and styles.

Aims of the Course

To introduce students to Dance genres and styles they may not have experienced before.
To involve students in the annual Dance Showcase.
To develop students' choreography skills.
To develop confidence in dancers to share ideas and perform in front of a group or audience.
To become familiar with the Dance elements and to apply Choreographic Devices to classwork.

There may be dance workshops delivered by local companies. There will also be an opportunity to watch a dance performance at the theatre. This may incur a cost of up to $30-$40.

Assessment Information

Students are either assessed on how creative their choreography is, or on their performance abilities.
